A southern California native, Dr. Wilks grew up in La Canada, CA. She received her B.S. in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Upon graduation in 1999, she served seven years as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy. Her combat experience includes serving in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in the Persian Gulf. In 2011, Dr. Wilks graduated with honors from the UCLA School of Dentistry and is a member of the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Wilks completed a General Practice Residency at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in addition to a Pediatric Dentistry Residency at the UCLA School of Dentistry. Her research is focused on developing a standardized protocol for treating children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities in a traditional dental clinic setting and has collaborated with many experts in Applied Behavioral Analysis. Dedicated to community service and providing for special needs children, she also serves as a Clinical Director for the Special Smiles Program with the Special Olympics. Dr. Wilks and her husband, Kyle, are excited to settle in Orange County where they will be raising their three children.
